Candidate Description:
This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate grew up on a crop farm and in his 20’s, he worked on a 65,000-acre farm and livestock operation. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in plant production, before moving to Indiana to work at a 2200-acre crop farm and custom harvesting for 1 1/2 years. In 2008 he started working on a 2000 head dairy farm for his in-laws. He was in charge of all maintenance and repairs and also was in charge of manure management. He worked with neighboring farmers and set up contracts to apply manure and buy corn for silage. The dairy had 3 shifts and 21 employees total. The other part of his job was managing the employees and making sure all shifts were covered. In 2017 he and his wife bought their own business in Ohio and got out of the dairy all together. They now run an animal bedding delivery business and own a stable where they board 20 horses at their farm. Although both of their businesses are doing well, they both want to get back into farming and be out in the country again. They want their children to grow up in a farming community.
