This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate grew up on a farm and have been involved, hands-on, in agricultural production all his life. He has been helping set up an organic farm in Alabama where has has enjoyed getting out and working rather than just being in an office researching and delegating responsibilities, which has allowed him to get to know the crops, equipment, and people on a more personal basis. He has operated self-propelled sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, large 4-wheel drive tractors, and large 4-wheel drive combines. He has helped install computerized farm management programs as well as chemical reporting software and recently helped install a completely computerized drip irrigation system. He has worked on vegetable, livestock, grain and fruit farms in New York State as well as Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Russia. He has grown fresh market as well as processed vegetables, sod and grain on conventional and organic farms up to 38,000 acres in size. He has been involved in all aspects of farming; setting up new farming operations, hydroponic greenhouses, developing CSA’s, equipment operation, equipment purchases, training, hiring and managing employees as well as fertilizer and chemical decisions. He has worked with Organic, Sustainable and Regenerative farming systems to develop a safe long-lasting approach that helps create new markets for local produce and grain that people can see as well as enjoy.
