This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate started farming with his father when he was in high school. They operated a 2500 acre, mostly an irrigated farm with some grassland, growing corn, hay, wheat and milo and running approximately 300 head of pairs. He attended Kansas State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ag Economics and a minor in Animal Science. After college he started farming on his own. He raised alfalfa hay, corn, wheat, milo and had a backgrounding yard of 900 head of mixed steers. He supervised approximately 4-5 employees. He performed all the doctoring and vaccinating of the cattle under supervision of his veterinarian. He then sold this farm and purchased property in the Flint Hills of eastern Kansas. On this ranch he ran approximately 300 pairs and 900 yearlings. He is looking for a position where he can manage a cattle operation by maintaining good herd health, high conception rate and a high live birth rate while managing the land by growing high quality grass and crops for the livestock.
