- Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences; Master’s Degree or higher preferred
- Eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License and successful passing of a background check is required

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Manager of Animal Operations for a midwest company that has a location in southern California. Person will manage the Animal Operations Department to provide efficient and effective production of antiserum for companies Midwest Facility. Person will supervise employees, support commitment to quality, encourages teamwork, and works closely with managers to promote company success. Responsible for o
verseeing the acquisition of animals, feed-stuffs, bedding, equipment, laboratory supplies, and all related materials and supplies. Prepares annual budget and approves purchases of required materials and supplies within budget guidelines. Recommends and justifies facilities and equipment expenditures. Maintains accurate records and computer files and prepares production, animal, immunization, and other required reports. Oversees raw antiserum production. Ensures compliance with written procedures for quality assurance. Develops, implements, and revises procedures, involving maintenance and operation of machinery, instrumentation, use of animals, and processing company product, in accordance with the companies Quality Management System. Manages schedule changes, additions, terminations, etc. of animals. Ensures procedure compliance and record validity for custom contract customers. Oversees the cash rent of agriculture acres. Understands and monitors regulatory issues regarding Animal Operations utilities, zoning, USDA Farm Service Agency, OSHA, etc. Selects animals for testing of immunogen, prepares the testing schedule, and participates in the evaluation and recommendation information. Oversees inventory and records of immunogens. Participates on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). Maintains a high level of confidentiality. Other duties may be assigned. This position directs and supervises the Animal Operations Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
