- Associate of Science in Animal Science (or similar field) or higher

- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Breeding and herd health experience or willing to learn
- Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


The needs of this business are not confined to typical workday hours. As such, the ability and willingness to work early and late hours as well as weekends is required.

Providing daily care of livestock can entail lifting heavy bags, buckets, bales, etc. The ability to safely lift and carry at least 50 lbs is required.

Job Description:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a dairy operation located in Wisconsin who is searching for an Assistant Herdsman. The primary responsibility of this position is to help in the day-to-day care of this facility. Focus on cleanliness, organization, attention to detail, and a passion for animal agriculture are a must to be considered for this position. General responsibilities are outlined below:

Provide daily care of all livestock. Including but not limited to:
- Bedding and scraping, and cleaning and sanitizing

- Follow BMP/SOP for day-to-day animal care and sanitation
- Provide early identification of sick cows and treatment
- Assist with reproduction
- Communicate regularly with Veterinarian and other farm staff
- Assist in limited milking, feeding
- Assist in all other farm jobs as the need arises
