QUALIFICATIONS:

- 2+ years of professional working with Tree/Shrub Nursery, inventory management, or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to assist in all aspects of tree production as well as care of grounds and facilities maintenance of the tree nursery
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and are internalized for all the staff
- Experienced in managing tree inventory while having in-depth knowledge in working with inventory, with data tracking that is put in place and developed for this need
- Monitor inventories / grades of nursery stock, while coordinating harvest and deliver of trees
- Arborist knowledge a plus to monitor all nursery field grown and farm landscapes for pest/disease using IPM practices
- Strong presence in operation and training of all equipment while exhibiting all S.O.P's of equipment and the Nursery policies
- Assist and oversee all equipment has standard maintenance scheduling and keeping in optimum schedule
- Class B CDL or greater preferred, Must have valid license clean and insurable driving record and ability to drive truck & trailer
- Ability to conduct & lead nursery tours, educational and related events as required in connecting people with trees
- Assist Nursery Manager in forecasting future needs of the nursery in layout requirements for efficient use of property or any needs of the Nursery
- Exceptional skills in communication, positive attitude, self-motivated, strong computer skills, problem solver with attention to detail while being a team player
- Experience with MS Office including Outlook, Excel and Word. Experience in GIS/GIS inventory systems preferred
- Ability to work long hours and weekends when seasonal demands dictate. Willingness to work outdoors in all types of weather

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri Placement is in search of an Assistant Tree Nursery Manager for a large wholesale tree/shrub nursery that specializes in several species of trees, ranging from hardwood shade trees, evergreens as well as a variety of species that are native to all of Virginia, Washington DC and surrounding area. Currently looking for an individual that will assist the nursery manager to take the nursery to the next level as they would like to meet their goals as they strive to provide, grow canopy, and provide trees in the area while remaining committed to growing the best, highest quality trees in the area. The future assistant manager will need to know about a variety of skills to include irrigation, planting, soils, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer, harvest and transplanting. They prefer a candidate with both education and experience but will consider experience over education. They are an E.O.E. and salary is open to negotiation for the right individual with strong experience, skills, credentials, stability, and references. Our employer is looking for a leader, team player to settle in a great community to raise a family with strong school district, yet remain close too many larger population centers for entertainment, shopping, and historical museums in the area as well.
