Job Description
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing an Agricultural company who is searching for a Chief Sales Officer (CSO) for their organization. The Chief Sales Officer provides leadership, direction, and resources to the sales department and is accountable for the overall sales department performance, the achievement of sales department goals and targets, and the alignment of the business’s strategy. The CSO is also charged with ensuring sustainable growth by constantly maximizing market penetration.

Supervisory/Leadership Role: The CSO provides leadership and strategic direction to the business’s overall sales program, inclusive of securing new dealers/customers, expanding opportunities within the current dealer/customer base through advertising initiatives, and delivering new product offerings. The CSO leads and manages all activities within the sales department. In this leadership position, the CSO sets departmental KPIs and evaluates the effectiveness of the sales initiatives, making appropriate changes that encourage achievement of overall sales and business targets. As an executive partner, the CSO plays a major role in leading, designing, and implementing the business’s development activities and corporate branding in order to increase revenue and gross profit. The CSO also takes initiative to mentor key personnel in the sales department, ensuring their constant professional growth, and assisting them in the execution of their duties where necessary.

Strategy: The CSO plays a major strategic role in spearheading the sales department’s strategy development initiatives, ensuring that they remain consistent with the business’s overall strategy. The CSO also has a responsibility to increase sales revenue through the design and implementation of appropriate strategies for the each of the business’s verticals, sales channels, and services. In this capacity, the CSO designs, implements, and manages the business’s sales process, ranging from relationship development and contract finalization. The CSO’s strategic role is executed with a view of selling the business’s full range of products/services in order to achieve the business’s revenue targets.

Analytics: The CSO is tasked with an analytical role to conduct business analyses, performance analyses, competitive analyses etc. In this position he/she also tracks and reviews actual sales results, weighing them against the set targets and business KPIs in order to determine the effectiveness of sales initiatives and implement necessary changes and solutions. The CSO places measures in place across the sales department for the purpose of forecasting and monitoring sales performance and business compliance. The CSO articulates the results of the analyses in reports, presentations, and recommendations to the Executive team. He/She synthesizes the same kind of reports for financial feasibility studies that he/she conducts in order to determine sales growth and revenue targets for the sales department.

Knowledge and Opportunity: The CSO is additionally charged with maintaining a stable knowledge base of the business’s industry, competitors, and regulatory activity. He conducts regular research, keeps up with trends and best practices, which give the business a competitive edge, and keep the business at par with some of the biggest players in the market. In this capacity, the CSO is also responsible for the implementation of new and well-researched sales initiatives, strategies, and solutions. The CSO further identifies top talent and contributes to the recruitment of key sales department personnel, hence, maintaining efficient and effective execution of duties within the sales department.

Relationships: The CSO takes initiative to establish relationships with key personnel within the business’s market. In this capacity, he/she attends numerous industry events and conferences, establishing and maintaining long term relationships with key dealers/customers, potential dealers/customers, and key strategic partners. The CSO is also responsible for negotiating sales and business development transactions inclusive of licenses, transaction agreements, subscription agreements, and partnerships.

Other Duties: The CSO also performs other duties, as deemed necessary for the smooth performance of his/her duties or duties as delegated by the Company.
