- Previous experience working on a dairy farm preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership role
- Not required to speak Spanish, but highly recommended (We will encourage you to learn on the job)
- Must be able to work autonomously and be a cooperative participant of a team
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job:

  • Be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Be able to work in heights
  • Be able or willing to operate heavy machinery
  • Be able to walk through and interact with cattle
  • Be around dust, dirt, and animals
  • Be around animal waste and work in cold and hot weather
Job Description:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large dairy operation located in South Dakota who is searching for a hands-on Dairy Manager with excellent leadership and motivational skills. Responsibilities for this position will be to lead, inspire, and manage the farm as a whole with the goal of a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for your team and animals in mind. This position entails employee management and working with on farm management teams (Herdsman, Milker/Scrapers, Mechanic/Feeders, Calves and Maternity/Dry Cows).

Key Aspects of the Job:

  • Execute protocols and monitor results
  • Provide support and knowledge to employees along with training and re-training of protocols
  • Lead management teams to complete their jobs efficiently and effectively
  • Monitor results of breeding, milking, feeding, and general repairs
  • Perform inventory of feed stuffs and purchase feeds monthly
  • Manage fall harvest of corn silage – do not need to run equipment but will need
    to record data, run dry matter percent, and cover silage pile
  • Work with fall manure pumping to take samples and record data from fields
  • Sometimes needs to help with machinery repairs (Experience is not necessary, but need
    understanding and knowledge for deciding whether repair can be fixed on farm or needs to go to dealership.)
  • Dairy work is usually from 6am to 6pm, six days a week (May need to be available on Sundays – this is negotiable.
    ability to set work schedule to have a positive work, home, and life balance.)
