QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of and experience in farming
- College degree in agronomy/crop/plant science and/or experience in the agronomy field is preferred. If you have other college degree and farm experience and feel you can train for additional agronomy skills, please contact us to consider this position. Looking for long term

- At least 2-5 years work experience preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with farm equipment and programs and the ability to operate a computer and calculator
- Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, suppliers, co-workers, and management; the ability to respond promptly to owner needs and requests for service and assistance; and ability to meet
commitments
- Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one and small group situations with management, co-workers, vendors and suppliers including the ability to speak clearly, effectively, and professionally in positive or negative situations
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Farm/Agronomy Assistant for this northwestern Kansas farming operation. This person will assist in crop production and agronomy functions dealing with crops grown by the operation:
- Soil sampling, analyzing soil reports, making fertilizer recommendations, and when to apply
- Working with owner on planting of crops including: variety, planting dates, populations, depth, etc.
- Work with soil moisture probe technology and report to owner on watering of crops while keeping in mind all state laws dealing with irrigation.
- Check fields for moisture, insects, weeds, fungus, and all environmental events as determined by owner during growing season and make recommendations verbally and electronically so owner can track growth and challenges of the crop.
- Help manage herbicide inventory based on planned use for upcoming year. This may include pricing, taking delivery, and keeping monthly inventory on all crop input items.
- Manage variable rate seeding and fertilizer application based on information available. Soils maps, yield maps, water availability, and soil fertility are a few pieces of information to draw from
- Collect and oversee yield data
- Collect and oversee planting data
- Collect and oversee fertilizer needs and usage

Responsibilities include: Operation of self-propelled sprayer, combine, tractors, semi-trucks, pickups, and skid steer. Proficient use of planter, air seeder, flex-head, corn head, shelbourne head, dozer, loader, grain cart, and other equipment in the general day to day operations of a farm/ranch. Willingness to learn the proper operation of irrigation equipment. This employee is also assist in the day to day operations of a small cow/calf operation and to perform any other duties in the conduct of business for the farming/ranching business.
