QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS Agronomy or related fields
- Prefer 5 years of experience farming organic row crops on a commercial scale
- 5+ years of experience in management role within a comparable structure or operation
- Experience with marketing crops, especially organic crops
- Experience managing an extended team is preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in Crop Production
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to professionally represent the farm in business and environmental areas
- Demonstrated understanding of operational planning, and financial and human resource management
- Excellent judgement and problem-solving skills
- Experience with business processes, financial reporting and farm health and safety

We are looking for a Farm Manager to manage day-to-day operations on this southwestern Michigan farm. This individual will have the following responsibilities: Managing day-day crop production operations, farm personnel, including approving payroll, hiring H2A and other workers. Executing the existing crop plan. Working with agronomists to refine the crop plan. Finding and purchasing crop inputs. Maintaining organic certification and all other aspects of general farm management, property maintenance, etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for an experienced Farm Manager for Southern Michigan crop producer. This person will lead farm production operations with primary focus on maximizing quality and revenue through their cropping operations. They will provide consultation and support to additional farming operations. Ability to effectively lead and motivate their team in the direction of the outlined mission. Coordinates with Director of Farm Operations who implements crop management activities, including the preparations for future growth, as outlined in the Farm Business Plan. Communicates with Director of Farm Operations on daily assessments of the farm and its goals. Monitors the effectiveness of implemented crop management strategies to ensure goals are being met. Assists in the recruitment, hiring, and training of Farm employees, and effectively manages personnel schedules and conflicts. Communicates with Management to ensure infrastructure, equipment, and tools are in good working order as necessary. Maintains regular and effective communication with Management on progress, budget, opportunities, and risks. Assist in purchases; supplies, equipment, and contracts for necessary operations, meticulously tracking expenses and managing the annual budget. Engages with contractors on large-scale projects such as buildings and infrastructure. Builds relationships with potential customers. Maintains strong local relationships through regular and open communication. Able to handle other duties as required or assigned.
