Hansen Agri-Placement is looking for an experienced Custom Forage Harvesting Manager for a central Texas custom silage business. Operation consists of up to 8000 Acres of Silage that is put up during the season which will run from the end of March and run through November. The harvest season has three peak periods a year, between the peak periods things will be slower. During slow times, this manager is in charge of making sure the crew gets to all job sites, while making sure each customer is satisfied with the completed work. Must be able to coordinate people and equipment in an efficient manner. Must be able to make tough decisions and think critically. Things hardly ever go according to plan. During the winter you will be in charge of the maintenance department (primarily trucks). This manager is in charge of overseeing the trucking division that deliveries silage to diaries every day, so will have to create a schedule the night before and send it out so the truck drivers know where they are going the next day. There can be anywhere from 3 to 8 loads on any given day. This company has above average equipment, as they trade every 1 to 2 years, pending on the number of hours on the equipment. They take great care of their equipment and make sure it is ready to go at all times. The person in this position will be required to keep up with the maintenance schedule for the forage harvesting equipment. The labor force at this company is made up of full-time and seasonal H2A workers and therefore requires a person who is respectful, honest, dependable and able to communicate clearly and effectively with others. It also requires coordination between people on the farm and people on the harvest crew, as equipment is needed in both spots sometimes. Base salary will be around $60,000 for the right person. Benefits and commission can be negotiated. This is a family business and you will be treated like part of the family. This job also requires a person to have an inner/personal drive, must be able to think critically, plan ahead, and communicate that plan to others. Great location to raise a family and has access to the greater metropolitan areas for entertainment and shopping. The area is also great for a spouse who has their own career. Housing can be provided and the home is above average and located 2 miles from the farm. Salary will be based on experience.
