QUALIFICATIONS:
- Need 2+ years of previous Swine experience, prefer to have someone who's been in a lead position in a swine operation
- Good people skills in training, instruction, and supervising barn workers through team building and people development and training assisting Farm Manager
- Collaborate with other departments concerning scheduling and organization of daily, weekly, and monthly personnel activities
- Self-starter, paperwork submitted in a timely matter and review performance records while suggesting ways to improve
- Assisting with evaluation of farm personnel while giving instruction and constructive feedback to employees in the department
- Handle animals with care and respect while following herd health and biosecurity protocols
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for an individual with a solid background in swine production for a Farrowing Lead position. Must have required knowledge and skill set with an interest in working closely with animals and people. Must be able to follow directions, think and work independently and make sound decisions based on the information available while remaining inside the parameters of company protocol while setting short and long term goals for the farrowing department. Will need the physical ability to walk on concrete floors while providing daily care of all sows and piglets in farrowing buildings. You will oversee and perform checks of the unit while monitoring farrowing process and maximizing piglet livability. Monitor and provide adequate environment for all animals from adjusting air flow and adjusting heat lamps as needed. Optimize pig quality at weaning, but also maximize sow feed intake along with adequate water. You will oversee and maintain accurate shipments of pigs complete with documentation to both internal and external customers. Position is located in a good location and is a great area to raise a family. Salary will be ultimately determined by a combination of experience, stability, and references.
