Job Description

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a dairy located in Illinois who is searching for a qualified Herdsman with strong experience for their dairy operation. Successful candidate will manage and supervise the Assistant Herdsman to help accomplish the daily care for the adult female herd, including sick and fresh cow treatment, vaccinations, breeding, etc.. This position will also assist with reproduction management which includes decision making on mating and breedings, and evaluation of the synchronization protocols. Herdsman will be responsible for managing inventory and ordering all drugs and supplies needed for the cow herd. Also will manage udder quality protocols, which includes: milk culturing, mastitis treatment, and milker training and evaluation. The Herdsman is responsible for inputting daily information into TMR Tracker and DC305. Other duties include managing cow movement (pen to pen, dry off, etc.), manage hoof care program, assist in all crop related decisions and various odd and end jobs to be performed as needed. This position will report to the Farm Manager.
