QUALIFICATIONS:

- Degree in Horticulture, Arboriculture, or equivalent advanced plant and horticultural knowledge is essential
- Previous supervisory experience required with 3 years minimum experience working as a Horticulturist
- Self-motivated, good communication skills with staff and ownership, leadership skills, team building, highly organized with attention to detail
- Ability to work in extreme conditions such s heat, cold, and rain. Willingness to work some Saturdays and evening hours as needed
- Working knowledge of software applications (Microsoft Suite) and strong working knowledge of all office machines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to foster strong relationships with team members and external clients
- Demonstrated experience to operate heavy equipment for maintaining fields and handling large specimen trees and shrubs
- Train and supervise best practices for tree and shrub preparation, digging, root ball sizing, pruning, load handling techniques, irrigation, and staging
- Required to hold regular meetings and complying with all safety regulations
- Develop and manage yearly budget and monthly performance goals for the department
- Analyze future needs; forecasting staff and material needs to complete future jobs
- Develop and monitor performance metrics in the assigned areas of responsibility

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Nursery Manager for this Eastern Shore Nursery operation. Nursery Manager will tour work areas daily to determine type and quantity of horticulture plants to be grown considering such factors as whether plants will be grown in bed or containers and market demand utilizing knowledge of plants, growing habits of plants, disease conditions, cost of production or other pertinent considerations. Nursery Manager will also supervise and give the direction of all horticultural functions related to inventory for the nursery; to include pruning, weeding, fertilization, irrigation, disease, and pest control, and monitoring of general plant health. Oversees the storage of pesticide is in compliance with the state Department of Agriculture regulations safely and accordingly to label. You will also be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Nursery Supervisor. Hire and salary will be dependent upon education, skills, experience, stability as well as references.
