- BS in an Agriculture or Agri-business related field
- Minimum 5 years experience actively originating/merchandising grain.
- Experience originating organic grain preferred
- Ability to organize your own work, set priorities, and make productive use of time
- Excellent communications skills in person, by e-mail and telephone.
- A pleasant and cooperative demeanor is a must.
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Web-based transactions
- Must have a clean driving record and a valid drivers license.
- Ocassionally lift up to 40 lbs.

- Walk and work in an outdoor/farm and office environment.

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting an established Ag Employer in their search for a Grain Originator for their Michigan office. The Originator will be in frequent contact with staff, customers and prospective customers in person, by e-mail and telephone. This individual will often meet with customers on the farm or at trade shows and will be expected to an exemplary ambassador for the company at all times. Other responsibilities include:


- Originate grain from the area in which the company operates
- Develop relationships with existing and prospective growers to source grain
- Maintain a current list of all grower contacts.
- Understand all company grain contract terms and processes.
- Understand company production requirements and manage logistics for smooth delivery and timely availability of grain.

- Work as a part of the team to establish grain price and understand impact on margins.
- Understand Organic grain procurement process

- Demonstrate strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills
- Work closely with growers and the production team to inform them of market movements.
- Represent the company and its messaging in public including at industry trade shows.
- Other duties as required by the company
