- BS Degree in Animal Science or Agri-Business is a plus
- Would like to find person who is innovative, who can bring new ideas and different ways to generate revenue.
- 5+ years of experience in a cow/calf operation and preferably with purebred herd
- Self-starter, highly motivated with ability to complete a project as well as start one
- Ability to help schedule, prepare private treaty sales of livestock during year
- Desire to learn and improve process of the operation in addition to accurate cattle records being kept
- Ability to work long hours and be flexible, especially during calving season and other peak times of the year
- Knowledge of farm equipment maintenance and repair of equipment are needed
- A valid driver's license is a must
- Ability to operate different types of equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Basic AI & embryo skills and knowledge preferred
- Good working with absentee owners who do frequent the ranch, to assist on the ranch from time to time


Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Ranch Herdsman for this purebred and commercial cow operation in northern Georgia. Seeking someone who will help manage the day-to-day operation for two purebred lines, along with commercial cows in calving, tagging newborn calves, record keeping, castration, de-worming, vaccination programs, as well as development of heifers and bulls for private treaty. A person should have good knowledge of ranch equipment maintenance including forage and hay production for the ranch. Prefer an eye for detail while having good communication skills, personnel skills, and analytical skills and one who has a desire to learn, to show leadership, and know completion of task at hand. Need good personality for the families that visit the ranch. Ranch background is a plus, but all-around skills will prevail. Desired skills and attributes will also include: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical skills consistent with property maintenance; familiarity with and ability to operate the ranch machinery; ability to communicate well with the Manager; attention to detail, high standards in work quality. Other responsibilities include: grounds maintenance, including general pickup of corral, barn, shed, house, and other structure maintenance and repair, lawn care, general maintenance, working with contractors and keeping them on course and care of landscaping. Wife can assist husband and will also be responsible for owner transportation, travel and running errands as needed to support owner's main residence. Couple needs to be friendly and outgoing as this is also a retreat for the owners and their families and they want to feel relaxed while using the property. Spouse will assist in washing dishes, laundry, grocery getter, etc. Both need to have a good attitude, honest, dependable, and self-motivated. Great location that is quiet to enjoy nature, all four seasons, and abundant wildlife, yet close enough to the city for shopping and supplies. Salary will be determined by experience, skill set, stability, and references.
