- MS degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Horticulture or other related degree program
- Minimum 5 years hands-on Agronomy/Crop Production experience
- Solid understanding of China crop production
- Experience managing and implementing a new crop with large-scale farming operations
- Research experience a MUST
- Teaching experience also desired
- Experience setting up test plots and plant trials
- Solid communication skills and proficiency with Excel spreadsheets
- Analytical mindset and data-driven
- Entrepreneurial in nature
- Ability to travel extensively within China A MUST
- Bilingual Chinese/English REQUIRED
- Currently residing in China or desiring to return to homeland China REQUIRED


Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting an Established Ag Employer desiring to hire a Technical Agronomy Director for their specialty crop production in China. This Director will drive all of the technical and operational crop development, from plant start-up through harvest, to include:
- Working with greenhouse personnel to produce transplants
- Management of a large scale specialty crop farmer production base
- Conducting variety trials and test plots
- Gathering data and then implementing this information to provide the highest quality crop available

The ideal candidate will have:
- In-depth knowledge of the Agronomy aspect of agriculture with some Horticultural skill set
- Good understanding of agricultural farming environment and structure in China
- Experience managing/implementing a new crop with large-scale farmer production
- Technical commercial agricultural acumen
- Good understanding of nursery, plant breeding and variety testing
- Ability to cross-manage between several different cultures
- Ability to travel extensively within the country of China
- Excellent judgement with ability to set and communicate priorities
- Report writing experience including experience with Excel and strong analytical skills
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of curiosity and a desire for results
- High sense of integrity and personal ethical standard

In addition, the ideal candidate will currently reside/work in China in a similar role - OR - is currently residing/working in the U.S. and looking to reside/work in China, preferably in an area south of Shanghai.

This Director will report directly to Chief Operations Officer.
