JOB QUALIFICATIONS
:

- PhD in Agronomy (preferred) or other Ag-related degree with coursework in Plant Science, Soil Science, Plant Health and Plant Nutrition; Masters required
- Minimum 3 years of technical Agronomy industry experience
- Experience within the fertilizer industry with fundamental fertilizer types, handling, and application systems preferred
- Broad understanding of fertilizer technology, markets, and application including enhanced efficiency fertilizer, water soluble fertilizers, and liquid fertilizers across crop systems of North America
- Solid knowledge of high value crops and irrigation systems used in Ag production preferred
- Proven and demonstrated understanding of statistical analysis and experimental design
- Experience with precision farming technics, i.e., GIS, remote sensing, VRA
- Ability to read/understand plant nutritional values relating to soil, water, and plant material
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skill set
- Effective self-starter with ability to manage daily activities to achieve long-term goals and contributing within a team setting
- Ability to manage personal goals and corporate objectives while keeping a customer-centric focus
- Ability to work well in an outdoor setting in all weather conditions with ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. in all weather conditions
- Currently residing within eastern half of US within 1 hour drive of a major airport
- Ability to travel 30% across Eastern U.S. and possibly Canada at times


JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a firmly established Agricultural organization seeking a Technical Agronomy Service Manager to cover the eastern half of the U.S. as well as portions of Canada supporting a team of Territory Sales Managers sharing a diverse portfolio of crop nutrition products. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in an Agronomy-based curriculum, a minimum 3 years of recent experience providing technical support to a team of fertilizer sales individuals.

In this role you will be serving as the technical expert for the North American Specialty Agriculture business, supporting a team of technical sales managers. This individual will play a key role in supporting the growth of an Ag solutions business from the ground up in both the eastern half of the U.S. and parts of Canada. This role will provide the agronomic foundation to support the entrepreneurial mindset of the sales team by identifying and quantifying the value of a crop nutrition portfolio including granular, water soluble, control-release and liquid fertilizer product offerings.

This role will include developing and managing relationships with key researchers, and will help to support the sales staff in presentations to customers, in industry meetings and within professional societies.

This is a home-based role and ideally located in the eastern half of the U.S. within an hour of a major airport. This role reports to the Agronomy Lead, North America.

What Opportunities Will I Have In This Role?
You will have the opportunity to:
- Design/Implement/Manage on-farm and university trials utilizing the portfolio of products, including controlled-release fertilizer, water soluble NPK fertilizer, dry, bulk liquid fertilizers, and soluble straight fertilizers to highlight product performance against the competition and other technologies.
- Develop protocols which include experimental design aligned with the agronomic standards and sound scientific practices of our client to document the performance of the specialty agriculture product portfolio.
- Translate trial results into commercially useful selling tools for the team of technical sales managers including articles, presentations, and product messaging.
- Contribute to and guide the creation of new products and new product formulations to meet market needs.
- Inform the business and initiate activity in new crop and/or product opportunities ahead of established sales in a manner that allows for seamless transition into successful commercial activity.
- Leverage strong understanding of sound agronomic practices in a multitude of row, vine, vegetable, permanent, and other high value crops, cropping environments and irrigation systems to support the growth of our client's suite of products.
- Ability to develop complete nutrient management programs following Good Agronomic Practices (GAP).
- Develop and lead product training sessions for both customers and internal staff.
- Work in collaboration with technical sales managers to align agronomic support with key growth areas.
- Provide technical support to retailers and growers on the use of the entire agriculture portfolio.
- Collaborate with marketing and R&D to identify and prioritize new opportunities and evaluate new technologies.
- Develop and present technical presentations at trade events and industry conferences.
- Maintain a focus on innovation which contributes to the growth and profitability of the business.
