Job Title: Business Development Executive
Business Development Executive
ABOUT EMPLOYER
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a well-established agricultural company in searching for a Business Development Executive. The company develops innovative crop input and seed treatment solutions that help growers improve crop performance and productivity. Working closely with agricultural retailers, distributors, and production agriculture, the company is committed to delivering practical, research-driven technologies that support healthier crops and long-term success for growers across the United States.
Continued growth has created an opportunity for an experienced business development professional to develop strategic distribution partnerships and expand the company's national market presence.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Business Development Executive will lead the development of strategic distribution partnerships and key national business relationships throughout the United States. This is a national, home-based position responsible for identifying, cultivating, negotiating, and securing strategic distribution partnerships that will drive long-term company growth.
The successful candidate will build executive-level relationships with agricultural organizations while expanding the company's distribution network and identifying new opportunities within production agriculture. Once new strategic partnerships are established, ongoing account management will transition to the Regional Sales team, allowing the Business Development Executive to remain focused on expanding new business opportunities.
This position offers exceptional long-term growth potential. A successful candidate will be well positioned for future executive leadership opportunities within the organization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute a national business development strategy focused on expanding strategic distribution partnerships.
- Build and maintain relationships with CEOs, CFOs, owners, and senior leadership of agricultural organizations.
- Identify, cultivate, negotiate, and secure strategic distribution agreements and long-term business partnerships.
- Develop new national business opportunities that support the company's long-term growth objectives.
- Work closely with internal sales, marketing, and technical teams to ensure successful implementation of new strategic partnerships.
- Transition newly established strategic partnerships to Regional Sales Representatives for ongoing account development and customer support.
- Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and agricultural association meetings.
- Provide executive leadership with market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback.
- Independently manage travel, customer relationships, and business development activities throughout the United States.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in agricultural business development, strategic sales, executive account management, distribution channel development, or related leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success developing and growing strategic business relationships within the agricultural industry.
- Strong understanding of soil science, plant fertility, crop nutrition, seed treatment, and production agriculture.
- Experience working with agricultural cooperatives, independent retailers, distributors, and other agricultural sales channels.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate effectively with executive-level decision makers.
- Self-motivated with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% throughout the United States. Although this is a home-based position offering flexibility in scheduling, successful candidates understand that developing strategic business relationships requires regular face-to-face interaction with customers, distributors, and industry partners.
- Valid driver's license.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.
- Transaction-based incentive program rewarding the successful development of new strategic distribution partnerships, with target total compensation of $100,000–$150,000 annually.
- Health and dental insurance or reimbursement options based on employee location.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
- Generous paid vacation and holidays.
- Flexible travel expense program utilizing either a company-issued credit card or employee reimbursement, based on mutual preference.
- Home-based position with the flexibility to reside anywhere within the United States.
