Job Title: Cattle/Farm Assistant / Successor Couple
Position Overview:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a qualified Farm & Ranch Assistant / Successor Couple for a diversified agricultural operation located in Nebraska.
This is a long-term opportunity designed for an individual or family seeking stability, a good work environment, and the ability to grow within an established operation over time.
Operation Overview
- 160 Commercial plus additional Purebred cows
- Additional cattle interests in western Nebraska
- ~400 acres of corn and soybean production (majority irrigated)
- Well-established and successful seed business serving a multi-state customer base
- Additional pasture and cattle resources utilized in western Nebraska
Position Responsibilities
- Daily cattle care including feeding, health, calving, and herd management
- Monitor livestock and make routine management decisions
- Assist with pasture movement and cattle handling
- Fence repair, maintenance, and general property upkeep
- Operate and maintain farm equipment
- Assist with seasonal crop production as needed
- Haul cattle and materials as needed
- Occasional short trips (1–3 days) to assist with cattle in western Nebraska
- Work independently while coordinating with ownership on key decisions
Work Structure & Lifestyle
- Typically averages 40–50 hours per week depending on season
- Not a high-hour, high-pressure environment compared to larger operations
- Family-friendly work structure
- Flexibility for:
- One spouse to work off-farm, or
- Both individuals to be involved in the operation
- Rural setting with convenient access to larger communities, including Lincoln and Omaha, for healthcare, education, employment, and entertainment opportunities
Qualifications
- Strong cow/calf experience required
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- Basic mechanical ability and equipment operation experience
- Dependable, trustworthy, and self-motivated
- Interest in long-term stability and rural lifestyle
- Couple or family-oriented candidates encouraged
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Approximately $60,000 (DOE)
- Housing: Provided (on-site home with utilities)
