Job Title: Feed Department Manager
SUMMARY:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing an agriculture cooperative to hire a Feed Department Manager. The Manager will be responsible for the Feed Department of the Cooperative, including providing quality products and services to the members/customers. Responsible for the supervision of the feed operational and sales personnel, and playing a key role in the hiring of employees and the review of work performance for the employees being supervised. Responsible for the repair and maintenance of feed mill equipment, feed trucks, and feed warehouses. Responsible for providing competitive-priced products and services while generating a positive financial return from the feed department to the company-wide bottom line.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Includes but is not limited to the following. May include other duties as assigned)
- Responsible for the overall sales and operations of the feed department and feed mill.
- Supervises the feed mill labor and feed delivery driver(s).
- Responsible for the feed mill equipment, delivery trucks, and feed warehouses.
- Compliance with state and federal regulations of feed retailing and manufacturing, including those rules associated with the Food Safety and Modernization Act and the Veterinary Feed Directive.
- Responsible for the profitable operations of the feed department and for annual budgeting/forecasting of sales, margins, service incomes, expenses, and net profits.
- Responsible for procuring feed, feed grain, and feed ingredient inventory and maintaining accurate perpetual inventory of these products.
- Responsible for maintaining credit sales to approved customers and assisting in the collection of past due feed accounts.
- Effectively communicate by verbal and written means with customers, employees, and management.
- Play an active role as a member of the senior staff of the Cooperative. Also, provide a written proposal for asset improvements or replacements with proposed financial risk and benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university and/or at least 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Solid understanding of business practices and leadership with a strong background in agriculture.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as product labels, FDA regulations, safety rules, SDS sheets, operating instructions, and manuals. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
REASONING ABILITY:
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Navigate and successfully use email, internet applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to learn and utilize existing accounting software to manage inventory, pricing, sales, and margins.
LICENSES:
Valid driver's license required. CDL Class A or B preferred.
