Job Title: Feedlot Assistant Manager

Hansen Ag Placement is seeking a Feedlot Assistant Manager for progressive family-owned cattle feeding operation in South Dakota to oversee day-to-day operations at their primary yard.

This is not a general labor role—this is a hands-on leadership position with real responsibility, autonomy, and long-term growth potential.

The operation currently manages:

• 7,000–8,000 head of cattle
• 3 company-owned yards + additional custom feeding
• All within a 60-mile radius

The primary yard features:

• All concrete pens (minimal mud)
• Modern, computerized feeding systems
• Well-maintained, newer equipment

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the primary feedyard
• Monitor and execute:
• Feeding programs (limit-fed system)
• Cattle health and performance
• Maintain efficiency and workflow across the yard
• Assist with operations across additional yards as needed
• Step in as the go-to leader on-site

Ideal Candidate

Must Have:

• Strong feedyard experience
• Proven leadership ability
• High level of accountability and ownership
• Team-first mindset and easy to work with
• Willingness to learn and adapt to their system

Preferred:

• Mechanically inclined
• Comfortable with equipment maintenance
