He also observed and participated in a variety of habitat and stream restoration projects on the ranch. Following college, he was an environmental scientist for a nationwide environmental engineering and consulting firm and a field technician for agricultural development company that offers agronomy, engineering, environmental compliance, surveying, and real estate services before returning to ranching. Most recently he managed a private working cattle and hay production ranch focusing on hay production, fishery and wildlife management, and recreation. He established a variety of annual and perennial wildlife food plots which involved seedbed preparation, no-till and broadcast seeding methods, irrigation and weed management.
