Candidate Description:

This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate grew up on his family’s cow/calf operation and participated in 4-H and FFA. He went to Kansas State and graduated with a degree in Agriculture Economics and a minor in Animal Science. He has worked at a large feedyard as shipping and receiving Manager in charge of getting cattle processed and moved out onto the yard and getting fats weighed and loaded on time. He supervised a custom processing crew of 6, 2 nightwatchmen, and 3 receivers. He worked on a ranch starting high-risk calves, calving out heifers and cows, caring for 550 cows and wintered around 2000 stockers. He is comfortable working and doctoring cattle from horseback and tries to handle cattle quietly and acclimate them to make them as comfortable as possible. He has experience operating general farm equipment, has light equipment maintenance experience and has welding skills as well. He is currently working for a ranch on their stocker unit. They buy about 1,000 calves a month weighing around 550 lbs. His duties include processing, feeding, rotating cattle and doctoring. He records movements, vaccinations, doctoring list and feed calls using Stocker 1 computer software. He would like to find a position with more responsibility and will allow him to grow more as a cattleman.
