This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate was brought up farming with his family and everything he has done since has increased his passion and knowledge. Whether it is meeting new farmers with innovative ideas or learning about the newest tech, he learns more every day. He earned a B.S. degree in the Integrated Pest Management program where the goal is to train Certified Crop Advisors. Areas of study included weed science, plant pathology, toxicology, entomology and soil science. He managed a 19,000-acre irrigated corn, cotton, soybeans, rice and peanuts farm where he also performed all the on-farm agronomy duties. He physically collected soil samples, had them analyzed, took results and had them converted into a map booklet with color-coded areas. As variable rate technology became more popular, he started putting the data on thumb drives for the applicators. He was responsible for choosing seed varieties, chemicals and determining rates of application, prepared and followed budgets.
