Candidate Description:
This Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT candidate has worked in farming for as long as he can remember. He learned to drive by operating tractors, and spray rigs. He owned and operated his own farm at the age of 19 with 150 acres of cotton. Within 9 years he had grown his farm to 1500 acres of melons, cotton and wheat and also managed his father’s 3500-acre farm. They did all their own melon harvesting, and he was supervising 20 harvest crews which was about 450-500 employees. After losing the farm due to the water shortage he worked in multiple positions from irrigation sales/design to general labor, and for the last 10 years he has been with the same company running the Safety, Food Safety, HR, and managing over 1000 acres of almonds and figs. He is overseeing other supervisors and continues to coach and assist supervisors with any issues they have. The current company he works for has 130 employees, plus 600 farm labor contractor employees during fig harvest, which he helps manage. He is responsible for planning and overseeing/managing all aspects on the farm including watering schedule, chemical applications, fertilizer applications, tractor work, field sanitation, budgeting.
