Also during the summer months they do maintenance on a lot of the equipment to get ready for harvest season, including the grain facility. During the winter months they spread lime on fields, as well as do planter work as they do custom precision planting for customer. It would be expected of the candidate during planting season to tend to the planters by loading/treating seed and bringing it to the fields, as well as liquid fertilizer during corn planting. The candidate will need to run a John Deere tractor with a soil finisher to fill in ditches before the field gets planted. This is a three-generation family farm operation. They cover 5,000+ acres of corn and soybeans, and are just beginning the use of 5 new pivots. This operation is extremely technology orientated, and strives to keep on the leading edge of the new technology being introduced every year. They use newer John Deere equipment, as well as newer Kenworth semis. They do all their own spraying application as well as all dry and liquid fertilizer application using John Deere 4940 Sprayer and 4930 Spreader. Farm also has a large grain storage located on site along with a grain dryer. The employers like to do almost all repair work themselves to save time and money. Team strives to keep all equipment in the best shape possible and do the routine oil changes, greases, and wax/wash jobs on the equipment. Will work long hours during the peak seasons to get the job done (planting and harvest). On the side of the farm production they also set Precision Planters for their customers, which can keep them busy building planters during the winter months.
