QUALIFICATIONS:
- Solid Feedlot background
- Excellent animal health skills
- Able to identify sick cattle and treat them
- Good feeding experience
- Prefer farm background/crop production experience
- Good maintenance/mechanical skills
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a Feedlot Assistant for a Nebraska producer. Cattle work includes feeding cattle, overseeing receiving, shipping and processing of cattle, monitoring health and doctoring sick animals, and keeping records on all activities associated with the cattle. If the employee prefers to work cattle horseback, there are opportunities to do so. Farming would be minimal but be willing to assist during planting and harvest. Routine facility maintenance, including fencing, water repair, and dirt-work is a part of all seasonal activities, as is trucking and operating heavy equipment. Person must be dependable, have good decision-making skills, be a self-starter and willing to assist in all areas of the operation, though the main focus of the position is working in the feed yard. Ideally the employer would like to see someone that has 3-5 years in a feedlot, so they would have the knowledge and skills for a position like this. This is a great opportunity for person to come in and prove their self and take on a lead position with a progressive cattle feeder. Starting pay is usually $17/hr for a couple month and move to $20+/hr if they prove themself. Will Start person at more money if they don't have to do a lot of training. (Will avg. 50-55 hour per week)
