Job Description:


Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large heifer operation located in Colorado who is searching for a Heifer Facility Manager for their operation. The Heifer Facility Manager is responsible for inventory, ordering supplies, purchasing, and the health, breeding and feed management of the herd. This includes early detection of illness for the individual animal as well as the herd. Managing pregnancy palpations, moving animals to maintain the herd organized, and grazing are some functions of this position.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and animal care standards as specified in the Employee Handbook.
  • Teach and manage employees to properly work with animals. Hold the employees accountable to the no tolerance policy if mistreatment or neglect occurs.
  • Maintain the Involuntary cull and death rate below the desired goals.
  • Monitor and teach employees to follow protocols, to perform their specific tasks and complete physical exams
  • Monitor and teach employees to diagnose illness early and how to properly administer the treatments
  • Monitor and teach employees how to work with maternity animals, dystocia’s and newborn calves
  • Monitor the breeding program and bull management
  • Organize employee scheduling to have a complete team at all times
  • Organize scheduling and movement of animals to maximize animal comfort
  • Work in a safe manner and look after the safety of your coworkers. Be sure employees follow proper safety procedures and wear PPE. Immediately report any incidents or injuries to the General Manager or Director of Farm Resources
  • Maintain the shop, milking facility, animal housing facilities, restrooms, break rooms, etc. clean and functional.
  • Repair or source someone to repair the milking parlor, milking equipment, housing facilities, water troughs, etc.
  • Complete written or oral reports as required and maintain open communication with employees, coworkers, and your supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
