- 3+ years of experience in ranching environment
- Need to know cows and calves
- Good animal health skills
- Prefer experience working livestock from horseback
- Ability to operate feeding equipment
- Hay and irrigation experience preferred
- Routine maintenance and general repairs
- Good communications skills, honest, hardworking and dedicated to get the job done
- Must be team worker and prepared to assist other employees in any manner necessary to get job done
- Current driver's License
- Must have own horses


Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a good Ranch Assistant for this northern California Ranch producer. Principally cow-calf with seasonal grazing. Ranch operates with efficiency as a goal and teamwork is stressed as a means to achieve goals. Operate on deeded, BLM and Forest Service ground. Primary responsibilities include: All phases of cow/calf production, fencing, and general upkeep of the ranch. Livestock care including: feeding, doctoring, vaccinating, branding, calving, moving, shipping, sorting and receiving livestock. Horseback skills, including proper care of horses, for gathering and moving cattle on horseback are needed. Roping skills necessary for pasture doctoring preferred. Maintaining livestock and ranch records as directed by management. Able to follow oral and written instructions, able to communicate well with owner and able to communicate and work with federal land managers. Mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and electrical skills are a plus. Person must be able to pay attention to details, have high standards in maintaining ranch facilities and have pride in what they do.

Cattle time is mainly Oct. 1st till May 1st. Cattle run on Forest Service Permit from May 1st to Oct. 1st. Calving time is Feb. 20th thru May 1st. Feeding cattle Oct. 1st thru May 1st. Haying Time is Apr. 1st till Oct. 15th includes: pipe and flood irrigation, running haying equipment. CDL is a plus.
